The EACF is pleased to announce the inaugural GC Masterclass for 2015 with Martin French as tutor. It will be held at Newport Croquet Club.

Synopsis

A one-day interactive masterclass aimed at helping improving low-handicap GC players perform to their best in GC Championship events.

The class will be led by (01473 288448). Preliminary enquiries to Martin please. Payment and registration to David Crawford (see below).

Date and entries

Sunday 7th June. The masterclass will start at 9.45am for 10am; we expect to finish by 5pm.

Entries limited to 8 people. £9.50 per person. Make cheques payable to 'East Anglian Croquet Federation'; Registration by email please to ; address for cheque will then be given.

Bring your mallet, waterproofs, flat shoes & packed lunch. Mid-morning & afternoon refreshments provided.

Suitable for...

Golf Croquet players aiming to start playing in Championship Events, or those players wanting to improve their performance in such events. There will be ample opportunity to chat to Martin about individual techniques.

It is likely you will have a GC handicap in low single figures, say 4 – 0.

As well as covering these topics in discussion, we will play through some games on-court, and analyse the options as the games unfold.

Biography

Martin French has played croquet since 1981, and in AC maintained a handicap of -1.5 for some years, played in 2 World Championships (winning the Plate in the first), and represented GB in the Solomon Trophy.

Taking up GC in 2011, he has played at Championship level from the start, playing in the British Opens, the Ascot Cup, the Musk's Cup, the European Championship, numerous regional Championships/ Ascot Qualifiers and in Cairo in the 2013 GC World Championship. He led the Ipswich CC team to victory in the 2014 EACF GC Level Play League, having won the Handicap League in 2013. At the end of the 2014 season, Martin had a handicap of -1 and a grade around 2400.

Martin has been on CA Council both in the late 1980s and currently, is chair of the CA GC Rules Committee and also the Equipment Committee, and has previously been Secretary-General of the World Croquet Federation.

NOTE:

EACF will offer a GC Masterclass annually for low handicappers; the programme will augment the improver courses for medium handicappers being introduced on a club basis in 2015.
