The League Play-off for the new Chairman's Cup took
place at Colchester on October 1st on a day when rain threatened but
mercifully held off until the result was decided. The three finalists, Bury St Edmunds, Watford and Norwich, each
fielded teams of four, playing separate matches against the other two clubs, one doubles in the morning and two singles
in the afternoon.

2005 League results:
At the end of the morning's doubles Watford had beaten both Bury
St Edmunds and Norwich, while Bury won their match against Norwich.
In the afternoon's singles Watford continued where they had left
off with heavy wins for Arthur Reed and John Moore against Norwich
and for John Bee against Bury. In the other match between Watford
and Bury David Drazin and Justin Blase-James fought each other to a
standstill until the heavens opened and manager Terrey Sparks called
it a draw.
The final result was a clear win for Watford with five wins, followed by Bury St Edmunds with three and Norwich with none. Watford therefore received the handsome new Chairman's Cup from its donor Terrey Sparks and go through to next year's CA Secretary's Shield.
