[+]The EACF Inter-Counties Cup [Holders: Essex]

The Maughams win again for Essex

After the 2022 iteration where the average handicap of a player in the Inter Counties was -1 this event was played level advanced with the exception of retaining peels. This meant peels after hoops 3 and 4 with many lifts forgotten and several contacts given. Unsurprisingly the event was won by the team with the lowest handicap although just 4 matches were completed in time. Once more the trophy will be travelling to house Maugham in Essex. Third place was decided on wins in time and 4th/5th on hoops count back.

[+]The MCP Mallets Trophy [Holders: David & Alison Maugham]

Winners Alison & David Maugham again

This was a first round of handicap play with the extra peel penalty for David and Alison Maugham but they continued their 100% record for the season as they proceeded to demolish the opposition though the title was briefly in the balance, as in the final game to be played if Dunham had managed a win they would of won the trophy on who beat whom. Instead they came second by virtue of beating Nene in their earlier head to head.

[+]The Rose Bowl [Holders: David & Alison Maugham]

'Socks' in festive spirits

Once more Socks aka David and Alison Maugham took home the trophy, but there was a close fought battle for the minor places with three teams tied on 2 wins from 4 with Peterborough dropping to 4th on account of having the only win on time and then Newport beating Suffolk on the head to head result. Unfortunately two players dropped out in the week of the event otherwise we would have had one more team.

[+]The Soham Trophy [Holders: David & Alison Maugham]

Colin Spencer & Duncan Hector

A great performance from Dunham saw Socks relinquish one of their trophies from last season. Both finished with 4 wins but Dunham won the head to head. Indeed Dunham lost just the one game and that by one on time to third placed Nene.

[-]The Belgian Cup [Holders: David & Alison Maugham]

Peterborough winners
Stephen Cornelius & Adrian Kirby

With just 4 teams entered for the Belgian Cup it was decided that everyone would play each other twice. This made for a thrilling finish with three teams tied on four wins from six games and each having beaten and lost to the others, making Peterborough (Adrian Kirby and Steven Cornelius) the winners as the other two teams had both had a win on time. Socks (David and Alison Maugham) pipped Midfolk (G Higgins and P Hetherington) for 2nd on net hoops scored.

[-]The Soham Trophy [Holders: David & Alison Maugham]

'Socks' win again - just

Sadly a last minute illness reduced us to 4 pairs and a single player for an intense day of games where the final placings were only decided as Paul Hetherington ran hoops five and six seconds before time to ensure Nene (Nick Steiner and Paul Hetherington) beat Gabrielle Higgins +1 on time to secure third place. But more importantly it meant Socks (David and Alison Maugham) took the title over Dunham (Duncan Hector and Ken Knock) by virtue of who beat whom. Had Higgins won a three way tie it would have given the trophy to Dunham on most wins within time.
